Finding Shipping Containers For Sale

Wednesday, 16th March 2011
When looking for a cheap container for sale or deciding to make a purchase for the first time it can be a little daunting deciding where to buy. Whether it is for storage, conversion, building or architecture your shipping container will need to be of the appropriate condition and at a price you are comfortable with. Container depots are quite often the best place to start. The vast majority of shipping containers enter the U.K loaded with goods via road, rail or sea and are unloaded at the discharge point. Once unloaded the empty boxes are the returned to a depot where they are inspected for damages and stored. Once the level of damage and age of the container has been evaluated they will either be repaired ready for re-use or sold on. The depot will have access to vast stocks, be able to cherry pick the best equipment for their sale customers and offer the option for those looking to purchase to visit their premises and inspect the equipment prior to making a purchase. In addition storage and repair depots will have experienced and qualified inspectors and technicians on-site. Their combined knowledge and expertise in the industry will enable them to have the equipment repaired to full industry standard using paints, materials and methods approved by the manufacturers. Should you require something a little different, depots will often also specialise in container conversions and modifications. Many traders offering the world on their websites or adverts will be little more than one man bands working from their kitchens. In many cases they will not have even seen the containers they are offering let alone own them in the first place, with many container traders “spot buying” is common place. When buying a new or used shipping container the best advice would be to ask to visit the vendors premises and inspect your container beforehand. Once there make a note of the container serial number that you have chosen and agree on any repairs or bespoke alterations.
