Cutting Out The Middleman

Wednesday, 27th January 2010
Let’s face it times are tough at the moment. Although the government announced yesterday that the U.K has finally exited a long and painful recession we did so only by the slightest of margins. High unemployment, companies cutting back on salaries and bonuses, coupled with the difficulty in obtaining finance, means that many of us will continue feel the pinch for a good while longer. The need to reign in our spending and make sure when we do have to make purchases that we are getting the best deal we can means there is little room for the middle man in this current climate. When searching for containers for sale or conversion on the internet you will be bombarded with search results showing hoards of companies offering their goods and services for sale. Before making a purchase however it is worth taking a little extra time to find out exactly who you are dealing with. A fancy website with photos downloaded and copied from the internet does not necessarily mean you will receive a professional service and quality equipment. A good tip is to try and buy containers from as close to the source as you can. Boxes usually enter the country loaded with goods on board a vessel to one of the many U.K ports. The container and its contents are then delivered to the customer, the goods unloaded and the empty box returned to an approved container storage and repair depot. It is these depots that have the pick of the bunch and will select the best containers for their own sale customers and can offer this quality equipment at wholesale prices. Spend a little time and shop around to reap the benefit of getting your equipment at trade prices. The same goes for conversions. Skilled container repairers are few and far between, most of them employed by the large storage depots. It is these depots that more than often carry out most of the modification and conversion work on a contractual basis for the smaller companies. The knowledge and skills acquired by a depot which has specialised in container storage and repair since they were invented is hard to beat. Again by buying directly from the source you will avoid paying over the odds to middlemen simply adding on their commission.
