Chemical stores revamped

Friday, 12th March 2010
Following the success of our range of chemical stores from modified containers the design has now been improved to include additional features to aid in the safe storage of chemicals and dangerous goods. In most cases clients require 20ft shipping containers for conversion and whilst custom designs can always be catered for, our standard modification will come complete with various items. The right hand doors are now fitted with viewing panels which have a steel frame that is removable with a one hour fire rated glazed panel inserted. The interior of the left hand door is fitted with housing plates for zone one heaters. The main reason for the viewing panel is to make sure that no personnel are trapped inside the container when it is locked. The front wall of the shipping container is also fitted with a steel fire exit door with an emergency exit bar. The side panels also have apertures fitted so that an air flow system can be used to circulate the air inside the container. The sump tanks are now split into three, so that the forklift pockets can still be used. Drainage points are fitted to a recessed area on the bottom rails to avoid any damage whilst in transit or on site. The original shipping container marine floors are removed and the floor level raised. Mild steel chequer plate is overlaid, and fully welded, with drainage points running the complete 20ft sides and at the door end. The exterior is also painted in a bright yellow colour making the unit clearly visible.
